Why Agriculture is Important to Uganda
Uganda is a landlocked country with a tropical climate and diverse terrain.
Most of the population in Uganda lives in rural areas and relies on agriculture for their livelihoods. Agriculture contributes to about one-third of Uganda’s GDP and employs more than 70% of the labor force.
Uganda’s economy relies on agricultural exports such as coffee, tea, and fish, which are key foreign exchange earners.
Sustainable agricultural practices help communities adapt to climate change impacts such as erratic rainfall and droughts.
Agriculture remains the cornerstone of Uganda’s economy and a critical sector for achieving sustainable development and improving the lives of its citizens.
